Who am I
About me
I am a passionate game development student. I am currently in my second year studying at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. I enjoy going on hikes and being outdoors, playing video games, playing the violin and learning all sorts of handcrafts. As a game developer I like to find the limits of possibility and break my own and other’s expectations.
My journey
My love for video games started when I got a nintendo ds with new super mario bros 3 when I was about 4 years old. Working with video games always seemed like an unrealistic dream when I was young. As I got older I realised that this dream wasn’t as unrealistic as I had anticipated. When I eventually had to make a video game during computer science classes in high school, it dawned on me that this was what I wanted to do for the rest of my life.
When I left highschool we we’re still in the middle of the corona lockdown. I started studying game technology at the University of Utrecht and I learned a lot. However only going to school once or twice a week eventually started to take it’s toll. At the end of the year I hadn’t fully grasped some of the basics of programming and the study was focused on general computer science with some game oriented subjects which wasn’t exacly what I had hoped for. As I understood less and less of what we we’re doing I realised that I would never reach my goal by continueing.
I left the University and spent two years gaining some work experience at ekoplaza, volunteering at my scouting group and taking the time to understand programming at my own pace. After 2 years I started studying game development at the Amsterdam University of Applied Sciences. This study was solely focused on game development. The study was also project based, meaning we learned by making games and what we learned we could apply to our projects. Besides just programming we also learned a lot about playtesting, research and gamedesign theory. I had never been more motivated to make games and finised my first year cum laude.
My strongsuits are:
1. Consistency, I make few mistakes and always deliver quality work.
2. Anticipation, I work well according to a plan and act goal oriƫnted.
3. Eye for detail, make well-considered decisions
